STANDARD ROLLS
I make all of my own bread, because I am allergic to the preservatives in store-bought bread. Bread is so therapeutic to make, it smells great and is so satisfying to have that first warm piece with a little salted butter on it! So good!
This Standard Roll recipe can be made into clover leaf rolls, parker house rolls, bread sticks, shape it however you like. I usually make clover leaf rolls as I like them.
I try to make all of my own bread from hamburger buns, to rolls, to loaf breads. I am allergic to the preservatives in the store bought bread.
STANDARD ROLLS
INGREDIENTS:
6 Cups Flour
2 Tablespoons Sugar
2 teaspoons Salt
1 Pkg Dry Yeast, 2 ¼ teaspoons
¼ Cup Warm Water
4 Tablespoons Butter, melted
DIRECTIONS:
Dissolve the yeast in the ¼ lukewarm water for 5 minutes. Mix the butter, sugar, salt and milk in a very large bowl. Stir in the dissolved yeast.
Add three cups of flour to the first mixture and beat vigorously for 2 minutes. Cover and let rise in a warm, draft free place until doubled in bulk.
Stir the risen dough vigorously and add as much of the additional three cups of flour until you can knead the dough easily. Turn onto a lightly floured surface, knead for a minute or two and then let the dough rest for 10 minutes. Resume kneading until the dough is smooth.
Pre-heat the oven to 425 degrees F and bake the rolls for 12 to 15 minutes.
NOTE:
I use my bread machine on the dough setting and it does just fine. Makes it much easier too.
